Johnson Gulch has been mentioned at board meetings since early spring, 2010. Running water threatened to wash it out and and culverts were needed to prevent possible damage to the roadway. It was announced this last meeting that a concrete culvert was completed, upgrading the gulch crossing.
The Johnson Gulch crossing had been holding up since repairs were made a couple of years ago, but there was the potential of one good gully washer undoing the work, trapping residents in that area.
The general approach was to pull out the culverts temporarily, pour a footer down both sides to seal the bottom, set the culverts back in place, pour concrete over the top, tie it in with the footers and then it would be complete with the Texas water crossing. A diversion ditch would have to be built while the work was being done to keep the water from coming in during the project.
The motion was made, and passed unanimously, to spend up to $4,000 to fix Johnson Gulch with money from BDR reserves.
